How will the story conclude?

So we thought that Rowan would be the last, bravest person left to face the dragon, and it has got to that point, our prediction was accurate.
BUT... How do you think Rowan will defeat the dragon and then how will this make the water start flowing again?

(All this in just one last chapter????  Isn't it great how the author builds up suspense until we just can't wait to read the ending?!!)

The Cave

When the author describes the cave you can really imagine what it would be like for the characters walking in there.  You can also remember caves that you have been in before and what that feels like.  In the comments, put a word or words to describe a cave or something in a cave.
eg.  shivering cold
       crisp air makes you wheeze

Like a game?

Reading Rowan of Rin is like playing a Nintendo game.  You have a smaller enemy at the end of each level and then at the very end you have a big enemy to beat and then you finish the game.  So in Rowan of Rin the big enemy will be the dragon?

The six spots on the map

In the book, Rowan discovers that there are six spots on the map that are blank.  Later in the journey, a riddle or a clue appears in the first blank spot.  When the group reach that spot, the forest, they come up against millions of spiders out to get them.  This scares one member of the party away.  It was his weakness.  What do you think the remaining blank spots may represent?  What situation or perhaps creature could test the weakness of one of the characters?

Art inspired by the first chapter.

After reading the first chapter we drew pictures of the Bukshah and the Dragon.  Here is a sample:

Introduction

This is a book about a boy named Rowan.  Rowan is a shy and weak person.  The stream where he lives has stopped flowing.  The villagers have to find out why the stream isn't running.  Rowan looks after the bukshah, which drink from the stream to survive.  He is scared of a lot of things including the dragon at the top of the mountain.  A group of villagers are going to go up the mountain to find out what the problem is.  We think Rowan may go with the group and be the bravest heart.

The witch Sheba said a riddle to help them find their way up the mountain:

"Seven hearts the journey make.
Seven ways the heart will break.
Bravest heart will carry on
When sleep is death, and hope is gone.
Look in the fiery jaws of fear
And see the answer white and clear,
Then throw away all thoughts of home
For only then your quest is done."
